Madeline Smith

Madeline is the HR and Operations Director at Michigan LCV responsible for organization-wide planning, financial oversight, and ensuring staff have the tools and resources needed to be successful in their roles. Madeline began her career at Michigan LCV over a decade ago, and returned in March 2025. During her time away she worked as a Director of People Operations for an aerospace startup, as well as Operations Director at Fair Food Network.  She has a graduate degree in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University, and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan. 

In addition to her professional experiences in HR and nonprofit operations, Madeline brings a longstanding interest and experience volunteering for political causes. From phone banking alongside her mom as a teenager on the 2004 presidential campaign, to serving as a member of the Calhoun County Youth Council in high school, and interning with State Representative Kate Segal in Lansing in college, she has learned firsthand the significant impact elections up and down the ballot can have a local communities. 

In her spare time, you’ll find Madeline taking her dog for a hike, cooking, catching up with her book club, gardening, and visiting with friends and family.
